Description
NORDCEM PRIMER is a liquid primer with osmotic action to be applied prior to treatment with NORDCEM. NORDCEM PRIMER acts together with NORDCEM by enhancing its waterproofing effect. NORDCEM PRIMER is a hydro-alcoholic dispersion of low molecular weight silane-monomers that: • deeply penetrate into the treated material. • preserve the substrate water vapour permeability (breathable treatment). NORDCEM PRIMER guarantees excellent performances also in highly alkaline and humid conditions, typically associated with concrete works cast a few days before. From a chemical perspective, NORDCEM PRIMER is a “stabilized activated precursor”, i.e. a substance already active in the liquid phase which, upon contact with the substrate, reacts chemically with it, producing the waterproofing effect. In this form it can be stored for very long periods without decaying its properties.
Field of application
- NORDCEM PRIMER is suitable to realize chemical barriers against water on building materials in general.
- In particular, its use is recommended:
- • In the presence of building materials with thin capillaries.
- • In waterproofing treatments subjected to negative hydrostatic thrust, in combination with a subsequent treatment with NORDCEM in order to make the substrate stably hydrophobic in depth.
- • As a preliminary substrate treatment in positive hydrostatic thrust waterproofing treatments carried out with resins (e.g. tanks or swimming pools), in order to prevent coating blistering.
- • To perform chemical barriers against capillary rise in brick, mixed or stone walls.
- • To perform chemical barriers in concrete walls. The exception is concrete block walls for which NORDRY 200 I-ECO is recommended (see Technical Data Sheet).
- • against saline efflorescence and as a water repellent on both dry and wet absorbent materials (concrete, screeds, plasters, terracotta, absorbent silica natural stones etc.).
- • in order to allow wet surfaces to dry before proceeding with subsequent treatments (e.g. cement or lime-based skim coats, waterproofing coatings, protective resins etc.).
- This is possible because NORDCEM PRIMER works even in the presence of humidity.
