NORDCEM PRIMER is a liquid primer with a osmotic action to be applied prior to treatment with NORDCEM.
NORDCEM PRIMER acts together with NORDCEM by enhancing its waterproofing effect.
NORDCEM PRIMER is a hydro-alcoholic dispersion of monomeric silanes with low molecular weight that:
• They deeply penetrate the treated material.
• Leaves the support’s permeability to water vapour unaltered (breathable treatment).
NORDCEM PRIMER guarantees excellent performances also in highly alkaline and humid conditions, typically associated with cement works cast a few days ago.
From a chemical point of view, NORDCEM PRIMER is a “stabilised active precursor”, namely a substance already active in the liquid phase that, when in contact with the support’s material, reacts chemically with it producing a waterproofing effect.
In this form, it can be stored in the warehouse even for long periods without its properties deteriorating.
NORDCEM PRIMER is suitable for creating chemical barriers on ordinary building materials.
In particular, its use is recommended:
• In the presence of capillary cracks in the material.
• In counter-thrust waterproofing treatments combined with a successive treatment with NORDCEM (to make the support material deeply and stably hydrophobic).
• As a preliminary treatment for the laying support in positive thrust waterproofing treatments with resin (for example, swimming pools or tanks), to prevent bloating of the coating, which could cause condensate or counterthrust water infiltrations.
• To create chemical barriers against capillary rising damp in walls made of cotto, natural stone mixed with cotto or stone.
• To create chemical barriers on concrete walls, with the exception of walls made of cement blocks, for which we recommend using NORDRY 200 I-ECO (see Technical Sheet).
• For the treatment of saline efflorescence and as a water-repellent agent on both dry and humid absorbent materials (concrete, screeds, plasters, cotto, absorbent natural silica stone, etc.).
• To make a damp surface dry before applying the successive coatings (e.g. cement or lime-based skim coating, a waterproofing coating, a protective resin, etc.).
NORDCEM PRIMER, it is also effective with humid conditions, creating a chemical barrier against capillary rising damp (hydrophobicising effect).
